Guidance on Reporting Misconduct to FIT
FIT makes every effort to resolve complaints internally, using policies and procedures outlined in the online College Policy Library. FIT expects that employees will fully utilize any and all of such administrative procedures to address concerns and/or complaints in as timely a manner as possible.
Policy Guidance
The below information is intended to help you understand to whom, where, and how,
to report suspected policy violations or misconduct based on each respected policy.
It also provides a pathway to policies relevant to various types of misconduct which
could guide your understanding and recognition of whether a violation has taken place.
- Academic Grade Appeal: refer to the Grading policy.
- Academic Integrity Violations: refer to the Academic Honor Code policy.
- Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA): refer to the FERPA policy.
- Other-Academic Complaints: refers to incidents of unprofessional behavior and other complaints that are not of an academic grade or integrity concern. Contact the department chair or academic dean for assistance.
- Affirmative Action: refer to the Nondiscrimination and Anti-Harassment policy.
- Americans with Disabilities Act: refer to the Disability Accommodations and Support Services policy.
- Employee Conduct (including, but not limited to, bullying, unethical behavior, professional integrity): refer to the Employee Code of Ethical Conduct policy.
- Code of Student Conduct Violation: contact the Dean of Students and refer to the Student Code of Conduct policy.
- Conflicts of Interest/Conflicts of Commitment: refer to the Employee Code of Ethical Conduct policy.
- Discrimination or Sexual/Discriminatory Harassment: refer to the Nondiscrimination and Anti-Harassment policy.
- Retaliation (issues dealing with individuals subject to retaliation as a result of reporting a concern in good faith, or participating in an investigation): refer to the following policies: Employee Code of Ethical Conduct; Sexual Misconduct Response; Nondiscrimination and Anti-harassment; Whistleblower.
- Title IX, Sexual Assault, Stalking, and Domestic/Intimate Partner Violence: refer to the Sexual Misconduct Response policy.
- Workplace Violence: refer to the Workplace Violence Prevention policy.
- Fraud: refer to the Fraudulent Financial Activities Reporting policy.
- Identity Theft: refer to the Identity Theft Prevention Program policy.
- FIT IT Systems: refer to the Acceptable Use for FIT IT Systems policy.
- Information Security/Internet Privacy: refer to the Information Security policy.
- Refer to the Environmental Health and Safety policy.
- Refer to the Institutional Review Board policy.
