HPH 159: Introduction to Digital Photography (Updated June 2019)

  • notebook and pen (bring to every class!)
  • digital SLR camera (Single Lens Reflex) mirrorless or point and shoot camera. DSLR cameras will give you better results (please bring a SD card to class if you don't have DLSR or mirrorless camera).
    *Students may borrow an FIT camera if they do not have one, but cannot use it outside of class hours*
  • a USB / hard drive with sufficient disk space (at least 100 GB storage)
  • NOTE: Replacing and/or repairing equipment is very costly. Insuring your equipment can be an inexpensive way offset the expense.Insurance can be obtained as part of renters insurance, as a rider on your parents insurance, or purchased specifically for your equipment.  Check with your insurance company or obtain insurance through a photographer's group like ASMP or APANY. HPH 166: Darkroom Photography Techniques (Updated September 2019)

  • 1 Antistatic cloth or brush
  • 4  Rolls of Kodak or Ilford HP5, T-Max 400 or Tri-X 400 (36 exposures)
  • 100 sheets of Ilford Multigrade 8x10”, glossy or pearl RC paper (DO NOT OPEN BOX, LIGHT SENSITIVE)
  • 8x10” portfolio (sample will be shown in class)

  • 10-15 Roll of Kodak OR Ilford HP5 black and white film (36 exposures)

  • Paper: One box of 50 sheet, resin coated, glossy or pearl RC paper, 8x10. DO NOT OPEN BOX
  • Film: 2 rolls of Ilford HP5, T-Max 400 or Tri-X 400
  • Negative sleeves for 35 mm negatives
  • Dust off: little brush
  • Binder: to hold negatives and prints
  • Rubber gloves: to process film
  • Scissors
