Women in Design-Related Technology: Learning from Real Life Stories
Learning from Real-Life Stories
Professors Elaine Maldonado, CET, and Karen Pearson, Science and Mathematics
This project is to hold a 2-hour luncheon event on April 26, 2012 for female students from design-related technology field majors (i.e., Fashion Design, Animation, Interior Design, Technical Design, Exhibition Design, Communication Design, and Toy Design). They will have the opportunity to speak with four successful female industry leaders from design-related technology fields. It is noted that many women who begin as STEM (science, technology, engineering or math) majors, drop out along the way resulting in women being critically under-represented in STEM fields. The goal of this project is to empower our female students in these fields of study so that they seek higher-level positions once they are in the workforce.
