Research Services
When you cannot visit Special Collections, our personnel can search for the information you need. We provide customized, fee-based research services to:
- Individuals
- Business and industry
- Government entities
Please review the fee schedule below; also note: in addition to the time spent researching and reporting, you will be charged for time required for retrieving and returning items as well as preparing materials to be sent to you. Note there will be a one hour minimum service charge. Also, if your request(s) require digitization services, then please see the Digitization Rights and Reproductions Fee Schedule below.
Fee Schedule - Research Services
- FIT community (with valid ID) and alumni: $50.00 per hour (up to 5 pages report)
- Non-FIT community: $75.00 per hour (up to 5 pages report)
- Rush service: $25.00 per hour (in addition to other fees)
Please allow no less than two (2) weeks to process your request; if you are under a very tight deadline, then additional fees will apply. Also note that semester workflow will dictate priority as to provision of service and that FIT-internal needs will take priority over all others. We cannot guarantee a specific delivery date.
Materials are delivered once payment has been received.
Digitization Rights and Reproductions Request
Fashion Institute of Technology Library Special Collections and College Archives will scan and deliver digital content to you. Please see the fee schedule below for details. Approval subject to the discretion of the archivist.
To request digital files of content held in SPARC, please send an email to [email protected] with information on what you need, and someone will reach out to you shortly.
Reproduction Fees (non-profit / commercial)
Fees below are one-time fees per image to obtain TIFF files.
New photography (per image): $200 / $350*
Digitization - still image (per high res TIF file, 300 dpi only): $45 / $65
Digitization - video (per file): $45 / $65
Licensing (non-profit / commercial)
Per item $150 / $300 (includes reproduction cost)
Additional Information
Please allow at least four weeks to process your request. We will try to accommodate your deadlines as best as we can.
We deliver files via Google Drive once we have received payment.
The Fashion Institute of Technology is not necessarily the owner of copyrights of materials in its collections. Any permission to publish archival content from its holdings must be obtained from the owners, Fashion Institute of Technology, or otherwise.
*Photography of oversize and/or fragile objects may require additional processing time and costs.
