HFA 143 Architectural Rendering

HFA 144 Intermediate Drawing 
Materials for the first day of class:

  • 18”x24” all purpose drawing pad (60 to 90 lbs.)

  • Vine charcoal

  • Conte Crayons (red, brown, black, white / optional are additional colors)

  • Mars eraser

Additional materials will be discussed in class based on student interest and progress


HFA 145: Design, Composition, and Color Theory  (updated 2/22/19)
 Materials for the first day of class:

  • Paper to use for sketching (9X11 or similar size)
  • Watercolor pad or sketchbook (11 X 15 or similar size)
  • Black and white acrylic paint
  • Something to use as a palette
  • Paint Brushes- A variety of sizes, one ¾-1 inch flat wash brush and acrylic flat or round brushes, #’s 0, 2, 4, 6, any or all if possible (no bristle brushes please!)

Additional items to be discussed in class:

  • Start collecting magazines for collages
  • Foam core (for mounting)
  • Color Wheel (any type)
  • Pencil
  • Erasure
  • Compass
  • Glue Stick or double-stick tape
  • Scissors
  • Exacto Knife with blades
  • Ruler (12 inch cork backed metal)

HFA 148: Fine Arts Portfolio ( updated 9/18/18)
Materials for the first day of class:

  • Soft, Medium and Hard charcoal pencils
  • Pink eraser 
  • 18 x 24 inch drawing pad
  • Plumb line (make one by tying a string to a ring of keys, a stone, or anything at all that has weight)
  • Foam core or other rigid board to back up the pad if it doesn’t have a strong rigid backing (and a couple of clips to hold the pad to the board.)

Additional items to be discussed in class:

  • 2 pieces of 18”x24” grey charcoal paper
  • 2 pieces 18”x24” color of your choice
  • Black India ink
  • Bamboo pen
  • Sumi Brush
  • Cups for water
  • Sanguine conte crayon
