Lawrence Israel Prize
The late architect Lawrence J. Israel endowed this eponymous award, which has been presented annually by the Interior Design program since 1998, to highlight ideas and work that enrich FIT students’ course of study.
2023 Award Winner
Interior designer Joel Sanders is the recipient of the 2023 Lawrence Israel Prize.
From his pioneering “House for a Bachelor” included in MoMA’s Un-Private House exhibition to “Your Restroom Is a Battleground” in the last Venice Architecture Biennale, globally renowned interior designer Joel Sanders’ provocations have upended preconceptions of gender and space.
