Designer Files

The Library possesses a unique collection of photographs clipped from fashion magazines over the years. These images include magazine and newspaper clippings, runway shots, fashion illustrations and promotion materials. Housed in the Access Services Unit on the 5th floor, this collection is arranged by designer name or fashion subject, and then by decade. We are currently in the process of digitizing this collection and can be found on FITDIL. Highlights from the digital collection include images from Chanel, Balenciaga, Pierre Balmain, Versace, Alexander McQueen and Yves St. Laurent. 

The Designer Files can be searched/accessed through OneSearch, the Library catalog or directly through FITDIL: type designer files in the Search Terms field.

Updated List of Digitized Designer Files [pdf] as of August 2020 (with direct URLs and number of images available per designer). You must log in using your MyFIT username and password to download hi-res images.
