Gallup Clifton Strengths
FIT is committed to supporting students in their efforts to become their best selves by developing their personal and professional Strengths as a part of their well-being.
Strengths is a tool to help individuals discover their top areas of talent, so that they may develop and apply them. People who focus on their Strengths are more likely to have higher levels of engagement, productivity, and well-being. Developed by Gallup, the CliftonStrengths assessment consists of 34 Strengths. Gallup defines a Strength as the ability to provide consistent, near-perfect performance in any given activity. Taking the assessment allows individuals to identify, understand, and apply their most natural Strengths.
This year, incoming FIT students will complete the CliftonStrengths for Students, as part of their Orientation experience. After completing the assessment, students will receive a personalized report that will help them recognize and understand more about themselves and how they can best contribute in academic, work, team, and leadership settings.
Ultimately, with the CliftonStrengths Finder results and the StrengthsQuest program, students will be provided with the tools to:
- Increase their engagement in college
- Improve their overall well-being while at college
- Help them succeed in their academic goals
- Improve and deepen their relationships
- Provide guidance and ideas for career and internship decisions
Strengths on Campus
Many areas across campus use Strengths, too! Each area approaches and uses strengths
in their own way to help you develop and maximize your strengths. These areas also
utilize Strengths in leadership development, student employment opportunities, and
classroom experiences.
Look for a Strengths-focus in these areas and others:
- Residence hall living
- Career counseling
- Student organizations
- Leadership and development training
