Clinton Global Initiative University
In September 2007, President Clinton announced the launch of the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U), a new project that challenges students and universities to tackle global problems with practical, innovative solutions.
Each year, CGI U hosts a meeting for students, national youth organizations, and university officials to discuss solutions to pressing global issues. CGI Us five focus areas are: Education, Energy & Climate Change, Global Health, Peace & Human Rights, and Poverty Alleviation.
The second CGI U Meeting was held at The University of Texas at Austin in February 2009. FIT President Dr. Joyce Brown attended the meeting to outline FIT's commitment to Energy and Climate Change. Our initiative is called FIT Goes Green: Infusing Sustainability into our Culture.
The broad-based, multi-pronged approach builds on a series of "green" activities that have been developed or taken place on our campus over the past few years.
Two FIT student projects have been accepted to CGI U:
- Natural Dye Garden - 2014
- Muslin Composting System - 2015
