Transfer Credits

Students applying to FIT must submit official transcripts from all previously attended colleges as part of the admissions application process. An official transcript is required from each institution attended before transfer credit will be awarded.

Transfer credit review presumes official transcript(s) from all colleges attended prior to applying to FIT have been submitted; therefore, once you enroll for a first term at FIT, transfer credit will not be considered from colleges that were not disclosed during the admissions application process.

The Registrar’s Office evaluates college-level liberal arts courses for possible transfer credit.  Courses taken in a major or related area must be evaluated by the academic department.

A grade of C or better must be earned for approval of transfer credit.  Transfer credit is assigned a grade of T and will not affect the FIT grade point average.

» How to Review Transfer Credits

If you have questions about liberal art courses that have not transferred, please email us at [email protected]. Please include your FIT student ID number and the name of the college attended in your email.

External Exams

Transfer credit is also awarded through satisfactory scores of standardized national exams.  An official score report (transcript) from the testing agency is required for awarding transfer credits.  Credit will not be awarded from high school transcripts or unofficial transcripts.

The links below list the FIT equivalent courses for each exam.  Equivalencies are subject to revision.

Off-Campus Study

Currently enrolled students who want to take course(s) outside of FIT need to complete the Course Equivalency Assessment Form (pdf) for review and approval of coursework prior to registering at another college.
