Paying for Study Abroad

FIT Study Abroad Awards

FIT Study Abroad Awards provide funds to supplement the costs of studying abroad.

These awards can be used for any study abroad program for which the student receives at least 12 academic credits towards their degree per semester OR a minimum of 2 credits for summer or winter study abroad.

For a selection of programs see FIT Study Abroad Programs, SUNY International Programs, or College Consortium for International Studies. FIT offers 45+ study abroad scholarships of $1000-7500, including the Global Scholar Award, the Gladys Marcus International Award, the FIT in Italy Awards, and several program-specific awards*. Details about each award can be found below. All are competitive and can be granted in addition to other federally funded or FIT Foundation awards**.

*Please note that there is only one FIT award application to compete for all FIT awards, including the program-specific awards.

**Recipients of the Excelsior Scholarship should note that the award amount cannot exceed FIT's in-state tuition and is reduced by any other grants and awards received. Your Excelsior Scholarship may be reduced or eliminated in any semester you receive a study abroad award.
