More Information
The topics below outline important information needed in order to have a successful Precollege experience. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Simply email us at [email protected] for assistance.
On the first day of each program students check-in and confirm all required paperwork is submitted. To ensure students have a smooth first day, we encourage families to review program requirements and rules.
This event provides an opportunity for families to meet our Precollege staff, review our guidelines and policies, and resolve any outstanding registration items. We recommend families use this day as a “dress rehearsal.”
Virtual Orientation will be held for remote and in-person students.
Student may add, transfer or drop courses on their own in our CCPS Registration System. Learn more about using our online registration system.
FIT Precollege students requiring reasonable accommodations based on disability either for in-classroom or on-campus accommodations should contact the Office of Student Disability Support Services (known as FIT-ABLE) as soon as you register for FIT's Precollege Programs.
The FIT-ABLE Office is located in the Dubinsky Center, Room A570. Please call the main FIT-ABLE office number at (212) 217-4090 or email [email protected] to schedule an appointment to meet with a counselor to discuss your accommodation needs.
Prior to the meeting please provide a copy of your current disability documentation. Documentation may include an IEP or 504 Plan, an educational or psychoeducational evaluation, or a medical report. All documentation should be faxed in advance for review to (212) 217-4091.
Precollege enrollment is based on a first-come, first-serve basis. No special recommendations or portfolio reviews are required to join our programs.
All of our courses are beginner-level courses unless stated otherwise in our course descriptions.

Lunch break for all Precollege students (high school and middle school) who are enrolled in two sessions per day will be at the same time, so they may socialize with other Precollege students. Common lunch hour is from 12:30-1:30 pm daily in all fall, spring and summer programs. Please note lunch is not provided as part of the program. Learn more about FIT dining options here.
High school and middle school courses might require supplies which students purchase on their own, particularly our art and design courses. Learn more about supplies here.
Our remote Precollege courses happen in real time and students will be required to log on during specific class times to participate in virtual discussions and lectures, complete assignments, and interact with the instructor and other students.
