Only if indicated in your offer letter, submit your official undergraduate transcript with proof of degree conferral no later than August 1, 2023.
Students admitted to graduate programs at FIT are required to hold a four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the United States or an equivalent degree from a foreign country. If the Office of Graduate Admissions does not have your official, sealed transcript(s) with the degree awarded on file, please contact the appropriate college or university to request that they send a copy of your official, sealed transcript to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
If you are completing your final term of your undergraduate degree, please do not send transcripts until your degree conferral has been posted to the transcript.
U. S. Students
It is strongly recommended that official transcripts (U.S. institutions only) be sent
electronically. If your school offers electronic delivery, transcripts can be sent
to: [email protected].
If ordering transcripts from a predetermined list of schools, make sure to choose the option for "FIT - School of Graduate Studies". Transcripts sent to "FIT" or "SUNY FIT" may not reach the Graduate Admissions Office.
- Official academic transcripts must be original documents bearing the institutional seal and signature of the institution's registrar.
- We do not accept copies, opened, or unsealed envelopes, unofficial printouts, or faxes as official transcripts.
- You are still welcome to mail your domestic transcripts; however, you may experience processing delays.
All transcripts submitted are considered property of FIT. They will not be returned to you, transferred, or forwarded to other individuals, departments or institutions.
International Students
You are required to send an updated final official course by course evaluation confirming
proof of degree conferral through a NACES member organization. It is strongly recommended
that applicants have completed evaluation reports e-mailed to [email protected]
by the evaluation agency. Mailed reports may experience processing delays.
If you are a graduate of FIT, please contact [email protected] so that we can request your official transcript on your behalf.
All transcripts submitted are considered property of FIT. They will not be returned to you, transferred, or forwarded to other individuals, departments or institutions.
Admitted international students wishing to secure an I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant F-1 status)—or who want to transfer their F-1 status to FIT—must complete and submit the International Student Financial Statement (ISFS).
FIT will issue an I-20 within five working days after you have completed the ISFS and submitted the necessary documentation, as long as your $250 tuition deposit has been processed.

International students who do not require an I-20 must complete the waiver section on page 4 of the ISFS. In order to apply for an F-1 visa from a U.S. consulate, you must provide the following:
- Evidence of your ability to finance your studies
- Copy of the offer of admission letter
- Receipt showing payment of the $350 SEVIS fee
- A valid passport

All international students must attend New Student Orientation in order to comply with federal regulations requiring check-in at the International Student Services Office within 30 days of enrolling.
FIT Health Services is a primary care facility staffed by physicians, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses. All students must complete a Health History form and a Notice of Privacy Practices and Consent form online using the FIT Health Portal.
All students who access campus facilities in-person must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and boosted once eligible, with limited exceptions. Additionally, all students must comply with the MMR immunization requirements in accordance with the New York State Public Health Law. Details of the immunization requirements and the immunization forms are available at FIT Health Services.
Graduate students must upload proof of their COVID-19 vaccine series, boosters, and MMR immunization by April 20, 2023 to the FIT Health Portal, prior to fall 2023 new graduate student registration which begins on April 21, 2023. Please note that students will not be able to register for classes unless all of their immunization records noted above have been submitted.
Requests for medical and/or religious exemptions will be reviewed for consideration. The deadline for submitting the exemption request is noted on this webpage. Visit FIT Health Services to submit the exemption request.
FIT has a mandatory health insurance policy for full-time students. All full-time domestic and international undergraduates enrolled in 12 or more credits are automatically enrolled and billed for the student health insurance. Students can be excused from the mandatory insurance if they have equal or better health coverage from another U.S.-based company. In order to waive the mandatory insurance, it is necessary to complete and submit an online health insurance waiver form by September 15, 2023.
You may email [email protected] to schedule a campus visit. You may also take a virtual tour of our buildings.
While few graduate students elect to live in the undergraduate dorms, the Residential Life Office will process graduate dormitory requests after undergraduate requests have been filled.
If you are interested in housing, please contact Residential Life at (212) 217-3900 or [email protected].
Tuition and fees are billed to student accounts once you have registered for courses.
The Bursar's Office will send you an email notification when your invoice can be viewed and you can submit payment at MyFIT on the e-Bill and Payment Suite portal.
Detailed information on costs and payment deadlines can be found at Office of the Bursar.
New York State residents are charged a different tuition rate than our out-of-state students. Your residency status is based on the information included in your application for admission.
To qualify as a New York State resident, you must have established legal residence by maintaining a domicile in New York State for a period of at least one year preceding the date of the start of the semester.
If you feel you are qualified for in-state tuition, please visit our Graduate New York State Residency Verification page for instructions on how to submit the required documents to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
International students with F and J visas/status are not eligible for the in-state tuition rate.
FIT, like most colleges and universities, uses a common application called the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students must reapply each academic year to establish eligibility and for consideration for awards.
To be eligible for financial aid, you must be admitted in a degree-granting program, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S., and continue to meet federal financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress guidelines. Only courses toward the degree requirements are counted as enrollment for financial aid purposes. If studying for a minor, only those courses that fulfill a degree requirement are eligible for financial aid.
Full-Time Students (enrolled in 9 or more credits)
To be considered for financial aid, all new and continuing students must be matriculated
and enrolled in courses in their degree program. Some financial aid programs are limited
to full-time students only.
Part-Time Students (less than 9 credits)
To be considered for financial aid, part-time students must be matriculated and enrolled
in courses in their degree program. Most financial aid programs require enrollment
in at least 6 credits in a degree granting program to be eligible.
Please visit the Educational Loans for more information.
International Students
International students are not eligible for financial assistance from FIT. International
students may be able to borrow using an alternative or private loan. Most lenders will require an eligible (credit worthy) co-signer that is a U.S. citizen.
Be sure to check your FIT student email frequently for important information.
Your academic programs will contact you to discuss class registration, orientation, onboarding, and other details.
If you need disability accommodations, we encourage you to register with the Office of Disability Support Services (FIT-ABLE). For detailed information on services, registration, and documentation, please visit FIT-ABLE.
